Your Board of Directors for 2018.

Linda Courteau (Chair)

Linda is a member of the Ottawa Humane Society Auxiliary for 23 years, having served as President for 6 2-year terms, actively involved in fundraising for the 23 years.  She had been on the BoD for Barrhaven Non-Profit Housing Inc. for 21 years, active in planning and participation of community social events for 23 years.  She has also been with the Barrhaven Food Cupboard for 5 years, involved with creating of the Mission Statement and the Directives and actively involved in sorting donations, and in preparing orders.  She was a member of North Gower Farmers’ Market for 12 years, serving on the BoD for 3-4 years.  This is her 4th season as a vendor at KFM, and this is her 2nd year of a 2-year term on the BoD.


Jenny Playfair (Secretary)

Jenny has enjoyed making preserves for many years and now retired from farming, selling her product. Her large garden provides much of the fruit and vegetables that are used, The rest is sourced locally wherever possible. She also offers freshly made pies, and cookies. This will be her 3rd year as a Kemptville Farmer’s Market Vendor, and she appreciates the consideration shown by fellow Vendors and the family atmosphere. She is honored  to serve as a member of the Board of Directors as Secretary.


Catherine ten Den (Treasurer)

Catherine has run her own entrepreneurial businesses for over 50 years.  Her specialties are Belgian chocolate, and related products, and fibre arts.  Catherine participates in 4 farmers’ markets in the area.  She has served on volunteer committees since the 1970’s.  Her wide range of knowledge and skills is a definite benefit to any organization.


Kelly Broad (Market Manager)

As a Kemptville area resident since 2003, Kelly spent many years as a frontline healthcare worker in homecare as well as a volunteer with local youth sports teams and Scouts . After an injury she had to leave her studies in  Nursing and change careers with an interest in Business Administration, as well as pursuing two other diplomas in Holistic Nutrition with designatins of Certified Nutritional Counsellor and Certified Sports and Fitness Nutritional Consultant . After graduating with honours in all areas she worked in several administrative roles including HR Management and Recruiting. Kelly came to the Market in 2017 and strives to create a welcoming community environment and healthy lifestyle venue. Currently Kelly is nearing completion of her Farmers’ Market Manager Certification, Exercise Therapist Certification and Personal Trainer Specialist Certification, with Adaptive Body Work Practitioner Certification already completed.


John Barclay (Past Chair)

John Barclay has produced more than 250 corporate and educational productions. He owns Triune Productions Inc.  John has produced (pro bono) many videos for local community groups.  He has supported and strengthened many promising initiatives and organizations in North Grenville including the Kemptville Youth Centre and the Kemptville Farmers’ Market as well as key heritage projects and community events through the Oxford Mills Community Association. He is a member of North Grenville’s Economic Development Advisory Committee.

General Board Members

Stephen Kenward

Stephen taught elementary school in Ottawa board and Carleton Board of Education. He was an inspector for engineering firm for roads, bridges, sewers and water.  He farmed for many years, shipping cream and mixed farming.  He sawed over 1 million board feet of lumber at his mill.  He is co-owner of Kenward Woodworks – production and sales of hardwood flooring, mouldings etc.  He is a market gardener and cook selling at 2 farmers markets and is also a member of community choir, renaissance choir, church choir and youth group leader.


Keith Lewis

Keith is a carpenter and DIY’er.  He has been a vendor at the Metcalfe and Kemptville Farmers’ Markets for 10 years and is serving his 2nd year of a 2-year term on the BOD in Kemptville.
